Purchasing car parts on Allegro is becoming more and more popular among drivers or “garage enthusiasts”, but also among professional mechanics. A large group of suppliers cooperates with the service — manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and shops. Currently, the platform has over 35 million offers for the sale of parts from approximately 1,000 manufacturers. Oftentimes, professionals find products here at a better price than offered by their local suppliers, along with express shipping. So far, using Allegro for everyday purchases of car parts has been associated with some problems when choosing the right parts. The search engine was not always precise, it also happened that the descriptions of the sellers did not give full knowledge of which vehicle models the product was intended for. There was a risk of a mistake and the need to return or replace parts. Professionals could not always afford such a waste of time.
Now Allegro declares that the problems described above are a thing of the past. Thanks to two new functionalities, the risk of errors in the selection of parts has been reduced to a minimum. It is about the possibility of indicating a specific vehicle model when searching for parts and expanding the “Fits to …” section in sales offers. We decided to check how the new version of the matchmaker works.
New car parts search on Allegro — how does it work?
We enter the Automotive category on Allegro, where thousands of parts selling offers are waiting for us. There are also oils, accessories, rims and tires, and even tools and workshop equipment. Although the products are divided into categories, it is easy to get lost in the maze of products. Just under the category name, however, we notice a new parts search engine by vehicle.
Today we want to order a cabin filter for the 2015 Ford Galaxy, equipped with a diesel engine. Therefore, we choose the appropriate category of parts (filters) as well as the make and model of the vehicle. Tips on the production years of specific models are helpful. In our case, we have a choice of two versions of the Galaxy, which were produced in 2015. If we do not know whether our vehicle is a newer or an older generation, knowing the engine version will help us. The older Galaxy was offered with engines in different power variants than the newer one — the power is given in both horsepower and kilowatts, thanks to which the data can be easily read from the vehicle registration certificate. The engine of the car for which we are looking for parts is a two-liter diesel with a capacity of 150 HP. It is therefore a newer generation. Click “search”.
The search engine found over 3700 offers for sale of filters for a given car. On the left side, we can choose the subcategory we are interested in — “cabin filters”. There are as many as 775 offers.
The search results can now be freely sorted — by the popularity of offers, price, etc. The most interesting for professionals, however, may be the options available in the bar on the left. There, we can, for example, indicate the preferred method of delivery or select only those offers where delivery is still possible today or within 1 business day. We can also display only the offers of sellers with the Smart package, thanks to which we save on shipping costs and we have a significantly simplified procedure for possible returns or complaints. An interesting fact is the ability to choose the quality of parts (in accordance with the GVO). In our case, we can also choose the preferred type or brand of filter.
We click on the offer we are interested in. There we find the second new Allegro, that is, an extensive section “It fits …”. The selected vehicle is indicated there, but we can also view the full list of models to which the filter fits. Accurate information is given there, including engine codes.
In a separate section of the offer, we can also check the list of replacements for a given part and the number of the original. This is helpful if, for example, we have an old part removed from the vehicle and its number. The risk of making a mistake is therefore minimal. If we receive the wrong part it will be due to a seller’s mistake, not an incorrect search.
